VOLUNTEER SPECIALIST APPLICATION

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Adventures with Autism, Down syndrome and Epilepsy (AWADAE) has several positions available for specialists to volunteer their services to special needs families on our cruise and land vacations throughout the year. We provide free respite care and private social activities on all of our vacations.

QUALIFICATION FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • MUST POSSESS A DEGREE (preferred but not required) IN THE FIELD of Behavior Therapy, Respite Therapy, Special Education, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, or Social Work. (can be a student in the above disciplines)
  • Must be currently working in your field and have training working with children and adults with special needs.
  • BE OVER 21 YEARS OF AGE
  • Must AWADAE to do a criminal background check on you.
  • Must be able to volunteer maximum 6 hours a day of your services on our vacations.

    One of the following Identification Methods is required for travel. Either of the following are acceptable on our cruises (choose one only). Non-US citizens MUST use a Passport.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:   Adventures with Autism, Down syndrome and Epilepsy will be responsible for all agreed upon in advance land and cruise vacation expenses that occur once our volunteer specialist arrive at the destination.   The Volunteer Specialist will keep all receipts for expenses paid while getting to the destination and AWADAE will reimburse the volunteer specialist those agreed upon in advance expenses once they arrive at destination.

The Volunteer Specialist Position is not a Paid Position.  Each Volunteer Specialist is volunteering to help special needs families have a stress-free vacation.

The Special Needs Families have the option to give a donation for our volunteer specialists during the trip.  Donations for the Volunteer Specialists as a group will be given to a AWADAE staff member to be distributed on the last day of the vacation.  If a family provides a donation to a specific specialist, the specialist is able to retain the donation for given to them without having to divide the donation.

 

 

SHARING CABINS: Specialist must be willing to share a cabin with same sex.  Your families are welcome to sail with us but please remember that your primary focus is the families that AWADAE is serving. Your families come aboard at the prevailing rates set forth.

MEDIA AGREEMENT: Specialist must be willing for their likeness to be used to promote our mission on social media, brochures, and website
